Virginia Trails Program

On April 5, 2004, it was announced that Virginia Trails Association was merging with BikeWalk Virginia to form the BikeWalk Virginia Trails program.

The BikeWalk Virginia Trails program will serve hikers, cyclists, horse enthusiasts, and water trail developers and will integrate BikeWalk Virginia's work in bike and pedestrian safety, health and wellness, and recreation related initiatives.  The Virginia Trails program will also continue efforts to assist local communities in the planning, design and implementation of local and regional greenway networks.

It doesn't matter whether you bike, walk, ride or paddle on Virginia's trails or roads, it is important to know that you are not alone in your enthusiasm and that there are resources and advocates available to assist you in your efforts!

Safe Routes to School

We support this national program's goal of improving the health of kids (and the overall community) by making it easy and accessible for kids to walk or ride their bicycles to school.  We are working to expand this program in Virginia.  Corri Miller-Hobbs, coordinator of the Virginia Coalition of the SafeKids Program and BikeWalk Virginia board member, has been working tirelessly to get communities participating in the International Walk to School Week.  Follow this link for more information on Virginia's Safe Routes to School.
