Keynote Speaker
October 5, Opening Session - Charles Jordan Chairman, The Conservation Fund
Charles Jordan is one of the most influential voices in conservation today. An outspoken proponent of our nation’s parks, Mr. Jordan is nationally recognized for his leadership and responsiveness to the diverse publics he serves. Before being named as chairman of The Conservation Fund, Mr. Jordan served as the Director of the Portland Bureau of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Parks and Recreation in Austin, Texas. He also held recreation management positions in Palm Springs, California.
Mr. Jordan was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to serve on the President’s Commission on Americans Outdoors and was later appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve on the American Heritage River Program.
NRPA Learning Institutes
National Playground and Safety Institute (NPSI), October 1-3

Aquatic Facility Operators Course (AFO), October 8-9
The NRPA’s Aquatic Facility Operation certification course, a two-day training program hosted by the City of Richmond, is designed to meet the needs of supervisory and operations personnel working in public, semi-public and municipal pool or waterpark facilities. Receive in-depth instruction in all facets of aquatic facility operation and management, including filtration, disinfection, water testing and treatment, design, troubleshooting and hot tub & spa operations, as well as a unique discussion of risk management.
