BikeWalk Northern Neck Trails

If you live on the Northern Neck and become a member of BikeWalk Virginia, you automatically join the statewide organization's Northern Neck chapter, whose members support efforts to create an improved environment for cycling, walking, and other outdoor activities that contribute to healthier lifestyles.

The Northern Neck Chapter was formed in 2006, primarily to run the annual Northern Neck RiverRide cycling event held on the last weekend of September. Today, Northern Neck Cycling's website at www.northernneckcycling.com is a link to area cycling maps and schedules for Sunday morning rides, which usually start in March and continue into the fall season. Rides are primarily in Lancaster and Northumberland, but reach into Richmond, Westmoreland, and even Middlesex counties as well.

Members of BikeWalk Northern Neck Trails are participating in a committee that includes Lancaster County officials, private landowners (Westminister Canterbury, Golden Eagle/Sedona Resorts, White Fences Vineyard), and the Friends of Carter LaPrade to create a walking and cycling trail between Irvington and Kilmarnock. The trail will connect the two towns and provide access to the YMCA, Kilmarnock Middle School, and Chesapeake Academy.

BikeWalk Northern Neck Trails wants to hear about other walking, cycling, paddling, and equestrian (non-motorized transportation) activities scheduled anywhere in the Northern Neck area and will post these events to their website.
